Another Evil Business Model from Big Media: Sell-Again

Posted by mckinleytabor  Published in Uncategorized

Aside from the business model of claiming ownership of all culture and then leasing that culture back to us, Big Media has another evil business model: sell-again. Sell-Again is different from the term “resale”. “Resale” is the implication that when you purchase a thing, you then have the right to sell that thing to someone [...]

The 00′s

Posted by mckinleytabor  Published in Uncategorized

When I was a kid in elementary school i became preoccupied with the first decade of the twenty-first century. Specifically I was intrigued by the notation that would be used. I remember “testing” date notions on a peace of paper, writing out 1/30/1, 1/30/01, and 1/30/2001 to see which looked better. I also made several [...]

The Greater Danger of Bad IP Laws

Posted by mckinleytabor  Published in Uncategorized

There is a side effect of bad IP laws which is just now coming to light. It has to do with the perception of law in general and the governments which create and enforce those laws. One of my favorite quotes comes from the writing of St Augustine: “an unjust law is no law at [...]

Name.com Host Typo hijacking

Posted by mckinleytabor  Published in Uncategorized

I moved my  55+ domains to Name.com from Godaddy last year and for the most part have been happy with Name.com’s service.  However today I noticed something that absolutely outraged me. I’ve taken steps to correct the problem, but the fact that something like this was turned on by default causes me to seriously question [...]

iPhone: Crisis of Faith

Posted by mckinleytabor  Published in Uncategorized

I love my iPhone, unlike so many devices I’ve had in the past, it just simply works. I do have some nit-picky things about the iPhone that annoy me, but overall it’s been the best mobile experience I’ve ever had. However, resent submissions by AT&T to the US Intellectual Properly Czar, and email from Apple [...]
