Well, this won't necesarily clear anything up, but here's my story. The other night my wife took my daughter to see Miley Cyrus in Newark NJ, thankfully without me. If you are unfamiliar with Newark, it is not exactly the safest city in the world, so when it got to be about 10:30 and I had not heard anything from them (the concert was 7 pm) I decided to use the Find My iPhone feature on my wife's iPhone.

Well, it showed they were still at the arena in Newark, which I thought was pretty odd, so I texted her. 2 minutes later I looked at the mobile me screen and saw that it now had her pinpointed about 1 mile from our house.

So this means for some reason Find My iPhone had stored her location sometime while at the theater, and then initially presented it to me as her current location, before updating. So perhaps your theory that the iPhone is constantly sending locations to MobileMe is valid. (fyi, I have her iPhone set up with MY mobile me account, with the mail turned off, so she did not access any MobileMe-specific features while at the concert.)

Oh, and the reason I stumbled upon your post was I was wondering if you knew how to use the Find My iPhone to get actual GPS coordinates of the iPhone, as opposed to that circle that often covers an entire block radius. Thanks!

As you said, the cool apps still require hacking.

So the best hope for Android is to have one-click-hacking.

Imagine the possibilities.

Seriously, that is the single hope for Android over iPhone. But it will have to be doable and undoable for the cautious consumer....

In all fairness, I WAS printing off signs that said "Go Dawgs". Now we all know that Mckinley's brother is a big Georgia Tech fan, and I am feeling the discrimination! BTW, thanks sweetie for fixing the stupid printer. I promise not to do it anymore.

I'm sorry, I had intended to put into the story who we had switched to, but I think it got edited out.

We moved the bulk of our domains to Colorado based Name.com, with some of our clients who need greater protection from US litigation going to a registrar based in Sweden.

I'll write up a story on that in the next few days. In the mean time, I would strongly urge you to move away from GoDaddy. Another story about them poped up on Slashdot today:

http://rss.slashdot.org/~r/slashdot/eqWf/~3/yI2xg69e7NQ/Registrars-Still-Ignoring-ICANN-Rules

We personally have run into the infringing "60 day" rule covered in the story.

I have been using Go Daddy and am curious who you switched to. It will be some months before I am up for renewal but since I value your judgement I would like to know who you might recommend as an alternative.
